Sand Pool Filter
This item has a canister filled with sand. It effectively removes dirt and debris from the water. It can filter out particles as small as 20 microns.
Cleaning a Sand Filter:
- Using a backwashing hose, flush out the dirt and debris.
- Pour a cleaner solution into the skimmer slowly.
- The dislodged waste from the filter cleaner must undergo backwashing again. This procedure will take three to five minutes to finish.
- Turn off the pump after finishing. Twist the handle to the position marked as “Filter.” And turn it back on.
Cartridge Pool Filter:
Cartridges have a pleated design similar to the air filter in cars. The water runs from the outside to the inside of the filter. The foreign particles as little as 5 microns are easily trapped and removed.
Cleaning a Cartridge Pool Filter:
- Please search for the breaker and turn it off. Slowly release the valve to remove excess air.
- Dismantle the clamp and take out the contents. Gentle and check for any damages.
- If the filter is not too dirty, spraying water using a nozzle is enough. Spray the water at an angle between the cartridge pleats.
- Utilize a cleaner to treat the dirty cartridges in good condition. If it is too dirty, soak it overnight in a five-gallon bucket with water and a cleaner mixture.6. Return the cartridges in place and lock them with a new filter top.
- Check the O-ring and observe the shape. If in good condition, lubricate with oil. If deformed, worn-out, or stretched, replace it.
- Release the air in the system until a stream of water comes out. Once it does, close the valve.
- Check the pressure of the system. If abnormal, the filter assembly must be wrong. Otherwise, there might be other system problems.
Diatomaceous Earth Pool Filter:
A Diatomaceous Earth or D.E. Filter is expensive. It comprises the skeletal remains of microscopic algae-like organisms called diatoms. Small threats cannot escape this filter.
Cleaning a Diatomaceous Earth Pool Filter:
- Backwash the D.E. filter for three to five minutes.
- Turn off the pump and put the backwash valve in the Filter position. Open the air valve.
- Pull the plug and disassemble the clamp that keeps the filter together. After opening, take out the top half.
- Rinse the tank with water using a garden hose. Once done, put back the plug.
- Clean the contents with water from a spray nozzle. Use a filter cleaner if grids are extremely dirty.
- Inspect the contents for damage. Please return the grids and manifold.
- Attach the upper half of the D.E. filter.
- Put some D.E. powder inside. Check the amount in the instructions written in the manual.
- Remove the strainer lid, and fill it with water. Lubricate the O-ring and close the lid.
- Remove the filter tank air. Achieve good circulation by turning the pump on for one to two minutes. Then close it until water comes out.
- Pour the prepared D.E. powder mix into the pool skimmer.
- Allow the pool pump to run for thirty minutes. Check if the distribution of the D.E. solution on the filter grids is even.
